What is Hospice?
Hospice is a Medicare Part A funded program to care for and support people with terminal diagnosis as well as their families and loved ones. Saint Mariam Hospice is a service that is tailored for individuals facing a life-limiting illness. Our hospice team's main focus is on comfort and quality of life, as determined by the patient or their POA. Together we focus on the patient and their loved ones, addressing needs on every level - physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual. You may be considering hospice due to noticing:

Treatment from our hospice team consists of:
Skilled Nursing Care
Services VCS
These services are provided by licensed nursing personnel (i.e., RN or LPN) on an intermittent or hourly basis. Training/teaching of the patient and/or caregiver as appropriate for the services above can be considered a skilled nursing service.
Family Support
Services VCS
Hospice care does not just focus on patients who are ill and near end-of-life. These services also provide compassion and support to their families. The support that these certified professionals lend can provide great peace of mind while also making the transition to hospice easier on both patients and their families.
Spiritual & Bereavement
Services VCS
A spiritual counselor from all faiths - depending on the patients preference request, will come to the bed side and support the patient at their time of need. Along with emotional support for all families during and after services, for up to one year.

Services VCS
Saint Mariam Hospice Service, Inc. will provide all medical equipment wherever the patient calls home. All equipment will be delivered when convenient for the family, rather it be same day as services start or once patient is discharged from the hospital. We also provide transportation from the hospital to home.
Dietary Counseling

At Saint Mariam Hospice Care Service,Inc., we are committed to the compassionate care of every patient. We understand how distressing it is when a loved one loses their appetite as they deal with a life-limiting illness. As the patient’s body slows down, the need for nutrition also decelerates. Our goal is to optimize intake for comfort and dignity.
Physical and Speech therapy
Services VCS
Our therapists are familiar with the many disorders and problems that might affect the voices of terminally ill patients. As much as possible, our therapists will help the patient retain the ability to speak. We believe that using one’s own voice to communicate is best, even if it requires some effort.
Levels of Care We Provide
Four levels of hospice care:
The hospice team will make the determination when a level of care change is needed, and which is the most appropriate.
Routine Home Care
Routine care include pain management, symptom management, emotional and spiritual counseling for the patient and family, assistance with daily tasks, nutritional services, and therapeutic services.
24/7 Continuous
Our hospice care team is dedicated to providing you and your family the same medical care we would provide our own families.
Acute Inpatient Care
Care is provided during periods of crisis when a patient remains at home while acute symptoms are being resolved.
Respite Care
Respite care is short-term care for hospice clients. Our caregivers will keep up the work that friends and/or family members need a break from. Our respite caregivers have years of experience caring for hospice clients.
